PEZ!

So cute. How much I like to suck candy from its neck. But real hickeys have zero calories.

Tiny Croissants, Tiny Muffins, Tiny Scones, OH MY!

This platter gets high marks for snackability. I suspect I could eat each of these with no more than one or two bites. I suspect these are part of the cupcakification of our food supply.

There's Just One left...

It really would be easier just to eat this last rugelach, wouldn't it? Then there'd be a nice clean platter. Well, no. It'd be easier to leave it there, let someone else eat all the butter and sugar and go back to the office have some walnuts since that's what you want anyways right?

Just a Bite

I'd snapped this shot in the work kitchen and was all set to post when a colleague convinced me to try it for two reasons. First, it was the going away cake for a collegue who is sadly leaving us and whom I will miss. Second, it was really good, moist carrot cake, which I love. So I relented and had a single fork-full. I'm happy I did. It was really good cake and I'm happy to take part in the communal send off. Afterall, I'm always the one ranting about how cupcakes erode the ritual of sharing a cake. So I'm practicing what I preach here, tasting the cake but because of the big slice avoided I'm still posting here.

Cake!

This made it to my plate before I decided to put it aside and go for some more greens. Its hard to say no to frosting with coconut.

Hole!

After a long gap and many snacks eaten this trio of snacks in the work kitchen brought me back-- donut hole, pound cake and cookies. Oh my! Danger, snackability index high.

If I didn't just make such a kick ass salad this might have been tempting. Fresh lettuces from the garden, some nice julienned beets and carrots topped by black beans and some fresh salsa.

No offence but if I'm going to eat a bagel or a danish, and I do on occasion, it ain't going to be one of these sweet cardboard things.

Homeade treats are the hardest to ignore for me. Look at this loaf of goodness lovingly wrapped in foil. I'm sure it has big chunks of walnuts in there! If only the walnuts were not in the loaf, that'd hit the spot. Even better, walnuts still in the shell. So fun to crack open.

Who Can Make the Sunshine, Sprinkle it with Dew?

Who can take a sunrise
Sprinkle it in dew
Cover it in chocolate
and a miracle or two?

The candyman
The candyman can
The candyman can cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good

Who can take a rainbow
Wrap it is a sigh
Soak it in the sun
and make a strawberry lemon pie?

The candyman?

The candyman
The candyman can
The candyman can cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good

Willy Wonka makes
Everything he bakes
Satisfying and delicious
Talk about your childhood wishes
You can even eat the dishes

Who can take tomorrow
Dip it in a deam
Seperate the sorrow
And collect up all the cream?

The candyman

Willy Wonka can

The candyman can cause he mixes it with love
And makes the world taste good
And the world tastes good cause the candyman thinks it should

Pizza Carcass

I could smell this pizza carcass across the office. It was leftover from earlier when the pack attached it, tore open the box and disembowled it square slice by square slice. As a natural scavenger I circled in to pick at the bones. But grabbed a glass of water instead. Deny my nature. Then again, the lactose intolerance seems to suggest that slabs of cheese are probably a good thing to avoid.

Onion Loaf

When few rings aren't enough how about a loaf made out of onions. This fried building block was ordered at an after work gathering for a summer intern's 21st birthday. I nursed my whiskey and made it through.

Hyatt Regency Desert

Though I do love a good key lime pie, the strawberries on the appetizer plate book-ended by black coffee took care of my sweet tooth. This spread of lil' pies and chocolate triangles stretched across the hundred or so tables at the Metropolitan Planning Council's gala like a minefield. I ignored them and listened to the senate candidates spar. Happy to see the Green Party included.

Like steering between Scylla and Charybdis; the girl scout cookie and the cupcake.
